Map

What it is for

The map shows where the ministry's people are. Use it to spot concentrations, find who is near an event, see where books are selling, and build a mailing list by drawing a shape.

Before you start

  • Map access. You see only contacts within your scope.

Layers

The map with the layer control open
LayerShows
ContactsOne pin per contact with coordinates; click for the name and a link
Heat mapDensity of contacts
SalesBook orders by location, sized by quantity
GeographyRegion and area boundaries
EventsUpcoming event venues

Base maps: street map, light, dark, satellite.

Steps: filter

Open the Filter panel to limit the pins by group, tag, region, area or marketing status. Filters apply to the contact and heat layers.

Steps: select by drawing

  1. Click a drawing tool (circle, rectangle, polygon) and draw on the map.

  2. The panel shows how many contacts are inside. Choose Add to group, Add tag, or Save shape.

  3. A saved shape can be reused as a campaign audience ("everyone within this circle") from Shapes in the sidebar or when building a campaign.

Steps: who is near an event

  1. Turn on the Events layer and find the venue.
  2. Draw a circle around it, then Add to group (for example "Near Wichita conference").
  3. Build a campaign for that group (Campaigns).

Tips and troubleshooting

  • Pins missing for people you expect: their address did not geocode. Open the contact, fix the address, click Geocode.
  • The map loads only the contacts in the current view and your scope, so zoom in for detail.
  • Satellite imagery is for orientation; it is not current.
