Testing on the dev site (staff)

What it is for

Staff are encouraged to use the development website, try the workflows (buying books, registering for events, giving) and report what is confusing or broken before it goes live. Nothing you do there costs money or ships a book.

Before you start

  • Your @everymanawarrior.com Google account. The site is protected by Cloudflare Access and only Workspace accounts get in.
  • The address: https://develop-website.everymanawarrior.cc.

Steps

  1. Open the dev site and sign in with Google when Cloudflare asks.

    The Cloudflare Access sign-in screen
  2. Use the site as a visitor would: browse, add books to the cart, register for an event, give to the fund.

  3. At any payment step, use a test card (below) instead of a real one. Real cards are refused on the dev site.

  4. Check the result:

    • You should receive the confirmation email.
    • Staff with admin access can see the order, registration or gift in the Admin CRM (dev) under the contact's history.
  5. Report what you found to the development team: what you did, what you expected, what happened, and the confirmation number if you have one.

Test cards

Expiry: any future date (for example 12/34). CVC: any three digits (four for Amex). Postal code: anything.

Things to know

  • The dev site talks to the dev backend, which holds a copy of real contact data. Use your own name and email when testing so you do not create records for other people.
  • Orders placed on dev go to the warehouse's sandbox, not the real warehouse.
  • Email campaigns from the dev admin app can only be sent to the "Email Testing" group, so there is no risk of mailing real contacts.
  • The dev site may be mid-change: if something breaks right after it worked, a developer is probably deploying. Try again in a few minutes.
